Alaska Dall Sheep Hunt, 10 Days
Prices and Availaility

Summary:
Nice 38.25 inch TMA Ram taken in August 2000! Dall sheep hunting is arguably, the best hunt experience Alaska has to offer – for the more physically fit. There are many big game hunters that have been bitten by the “sheep bug”. Normally, all it takes is one trip to become hooked for life.

Some of the causes of this addiction include high mountaintops, spectacular glaciers, breathtaking views, challenging terrain, good company, and just seeing these majestic creatures in their element.

Dall sheep can be found throughout most of the interior mountain ranges of Alaska and Canada. The males (rams) weigh between 200 and 300 pounds on-the-hoof and generally live to be no more than 12 years old. Additionally, they have exceptionally keen eyesight – equal to 8-power binoculars!

Curious full-curl during August 2004!About the Hunt
The world famous Tok Management (TMA) and Delta Controlled Use Areas (DCUA) in the northeastern Alaska Range can only be hunted by drawing permit.

These areas have been managed specifically for trophy quality rams. Every year there are several rams taken in the 40" class.

Your 10-day hunt will begin in Tok, Alaska – where we will travel to remote gravel airstrips, ridge tops, and streambeds aboard reliable Super Cubs flown by long-time professional pilots.

Once at the strip, we will check our gear, glass for sheep, stash extra supplies, and begin the trek towards spike camp. Once we have reached a good location, we will set up a tent camp to hunt from.

Depending on ridge distances & sheep locations, we may spike out with minimal gear and bivy sacks for 2-3 days at a time. This is a very effective way to cover larger areas, as our packs will be lighter.

Scenic view of the boulder scree fields in DCUA! This is a tough backpack hunt, physically. You will want to be in very good shape – able to carry a 40 to 60 pound backpack up steep, rugged terrain for several miles at a time. A good training regimen is recommended in order to be effective on this hunt. Being mentally prepared to endure the occasional weather day (or two) or tackle that “extra mile” will enhance your overall experience, as well.

Currently, our Dall sheep average 37” in length with 13-3/16” bases. Our past hunts have been 70% successful with 100% opportunity.

Drawing Permits
The TMA and DCUA are drawing permit only areas. Please print our Drawing Application, fill it out, and send it in with your fees before November 1st for the following year's hunt.

Your application will be personally entered at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game before December 6th. The results are normally available by the end of January. We will contact you immediately, if you are drawn.
