Alaskan Moose Hunt, 7 Days
Prices and Availaility

Summary:
Sean's nice 40 inch Bull taken in September 2003!

Due to the limited availability of moose in Southeast Alaska, our moose trophies are not large by Alaska standards.   A normal bull will have a 20 - 45" inch wide rack.   We have been known to get some in the upper 40's to 55+ inches.   The weights of these animals are usually 800 to 1,500 pounds.

The beautiful river valleys that you hunt in always have trout, salmon, eagles, bear, moose, ducks, geese, and other wildlife to chase, photograph, and view.   The rivers are teaming with silver salmon, Dolly Varden, and cutthroat trout, so the fishing is great, too.   Occasionally, we will charter a floatplane to fly into larger trophy locations.

Because of the larger concentration of moose in the Berners Bay Area, I would highly suggest that you watch the Alaska Department of Fish & Game's website for moose drawing permits in this area (Specifically, DM041 -Bulls in the Berners Bay Drainage Area - Unit 1C).   The Drawing Applications should be available in April or May and are due to be mailed by May 31 and received by June 10. You can view their website at:
http://www.wildlife.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=permits.main

Under Licenses & Permits, choose Current Year Permit Hunts, when it is available (Late April to early May).

The Bull and cow drawings have 15 permits each instead of 10 each, which ups the odds a bit.   It is usually quite difficult to draw a permit though, as there isn't a point system based on the number of missed drawings in place.

Whether you draw or not, we can get you into several areas to see moose.

The season runs September 15 - October 15, and I would recommend the the first or second week in October for best results.   During that time of year, most of the leaves are off the trees, giving you a better chance of seeing them in the brush while spotting.
