LODGING

Lodge
Seahook Charters can also provide you with limited accommodations before and after your guided hunt or charter.

Our remote lodge, located on the Juneau road system 34 miles from downtown, faces beautiful Lynn Canal. This location overlooks the resting place of the famous 1918 gold rush shipwreck "Princess Sophia" (click for photo).

Many sealions, humpback whales, seals, porpoise, and other sea mammals can be seen daily from the deck of our lodge.

VESSEL ACCOMMODATIONS

46 foot F/V Ariel with crew quarters on the back
Our newest edition, is the F/V Ariel which is 46 feet long and sleeps seven comfortably. This vessel is equipped with a warm stove, electric heat, microwave, convection oven, range, sink, bathroom, shower, and dining settee.

This vessel is utilized for larger parties or clients looking for a more comfortable and relaxing trip.   The Ariel will be an asset for spring bear hunts and late season goat hunts in November when the requirements of a nice cozy warm boat after a long day's hunt becomes apparent.

Although it is slower (appx. 8 knots) than the rest of our vessels, the trade-offs are excellent.

Take a look at the Ariel's interior layout.

M/V Seahook
Aboard the 33’ twin diesel engine M/V "Seahook", a comfortable cabin and full galley provide delicious meals featuring crab, salmon, halibut, shrimp, and other local delicacies.

The vessel will sleep 4 people comfortably and includes heat, stove, sink, bathroom, and dining settee.   If hunting parties exceed this number, we have additional vessels including the 25' M/V "Ocean Runner" which has heat, stove, and sleeps three comfortably.

Both of these boats run at approximately 20-30 knots depending on sea conditions.

SOUTHEAST ALASKA

Beautiful Stream The scenery in the area of your charter is remote, picturesque, and filled with wildlife.

The waters will provide fishermen with opportunities for catching salmon, halibut, and many species of trout.

Visitors, photographers, and sea kayakers can expect to view humpback whales, seals, porpoises, sealions, and killer whales, while beachcombers, hunters, and hikers will see black and brown bears, deer, wolves, moose, and mountain goats.

National parks, glaciers, icebergs, waterfalls, forests, and primitive wilderness are also part of this famous archipelago.

CLIMATE AND CLOTHING

Rainforest Hunt Southeast Alaska is a rainforest so be prepared with quality raingear, rubber boots, and hip waders for hiking the tidal coastline and streams.

April through June usually have the best weather of the year, but be prepared for rain during your visit.

The temperatures normally range from 40 to 65° F.

Occasionally, the thermometer dips below freezing during early spring and late fall, so keep in mind that warm clothing will be needed during those times.

Here is a Gear List we recommend for Southeast!

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

Marty's nice Billy
"Thank you for how hard you worked to get Keith and me our goats. Your hard work was contagious, and your encouragement and positive attitude really kept me going. You pushed me to do things I was not sure I could do, but you were also very sensitive to my capabilities. I must confess that on the first climb on that first day I thought I had made a terrible mistake. But you got us safely up and down, and that really boosted my confidence. I always felt safe with you, and very confident in your abilities. There were a couple of times that I thought I saw tufts of white hair coming out around your collar."

I felt in very confident hands the whole trip. We had an awesome trip to Alaska. Few can say they went on a brown bear hunt in Alaska.
